Professor Anju Sahdev is a highly experienced Consultant Radiologist and Clinical Professor of Diagnostic Imaging with more than 25 years of experience in advanced diagnostic imaging. Internationally recognised for her expertise in gynaecological, pelvic, endocrine, and oncology imaging, she is regarded as one of the UK’s leading specialists in the interpretation of complex MRI and CT scans.

At Gynaecology Clinic London, Professor Sahdev provides specialist imaging expertise for women with complex gynaecological conditions, including suspected endometriosis, pelvic pain, ovarian and uterine abnormalities, urogynaecological concerns, and other conditions where advanced imaging plays an important role in diagnosis and treatment planning. Her expertise helps ensure that imaging findings are accurately interpreted and integrated into the wider clinical picture, supporting informed decision-making and personalised patient care.

Alongside her private practice, Professor Sahdev is Clinical Professor of Diagnostic Imaging and Director of Research and Group Clinical Services at Barts Health NHS Trust, one of the UK’s largest NHS organisations. She is actively involved in specialist endometriosis, gynaecological oncology, and urological oncology services and has established an international reputation for her contributions to diagnostic imaging, research, education, and multidisciplinary patient care.

A significant part of her work involves the assessment of women with pelvic pain, suspected endometriosis, ovarian and uterine abnormalities, postmenopausal bleeding, adnexal masses, and other complex gynaecological conditions. Her expertise is particularly valuable when symptoms are longstanding, imaging findings are unclear, or a detailed specialist review is needed to help guide the next stage of care.

Professor Sahdev is actively involved in specialist endometriosis and gynaecological oncology services at Barts Health NHS Trust, a major regional and tertiary referral centre. Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, she contributes to the management of some of the most complex benign and malignant gynaecological conditions, helping clinicians reach accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment strategies.

Education & Training

Professor Sahdev graduated from the University of London before undertaking postgraduate medical training and gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). She subsequently completed specialist radiology training at leading London teaching hospitals, including University College Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, before being awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).

Over the course of her career, Professor Sahdev has developed extensive expertise in advanced body, pelvic, endocrine, and oncological imaging, with a particular focus on complex MRI and CT imaging. Working within specialist and tertiary referral centres, she has spent more than 25 years supporting the diagnosis and management of complex benign and malignant conditions across gynaecology, oncology, urology, endocrinology, and surgery.

Her specialist training, combined with decades of experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams and national referral services, has established her as a recognised authority in diagnostic imaging. Today, as Clinical Professor of Diagnostic Imaging and Director of Research and Group Clinical Services at Barts Health NHS Trust, she continues to play a leading role in advancing imaging practice, education, and research within one of the UK’s largest NHS organisations.

Professor Sahdev has an extensive academic and research portfolio and is internationally recognised for her contributions to diagnostic imaging. She has authored and co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, contributed to numerous textbook chapters, and helped advance understanding across a wide range of areas including gynaecological imaging, oncology imaging, endocrine imaging, uro-radiology, and complex pelvic pathology.

Her research has focused on improving the diagnosis, assessment, and management of both benign and malignant conditions, with particular interests in endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, ovarian and adnexal pathology, postmenopausal bleeding, gynaecological cancers, endocrine disorders, urological malignancies, and advanced oncological imaging techniques. Her work has contributed to the evidence base that supports modern imaging practice and multidisciplinary patient care.

As Clinical Professor of Diagnostic Imaging and Director of Research and Group Clinical Services at Barts Health NHS Trust, Professor Sahdev continues to play a leading role in imaging research, education, and innovation. Through her academic work, she contributes to the development of imaging techniques and diagnostic pathways that support earlier diagnosis, more accurate disease assessment, and improved outcomes for patients.

In addition to her research publications, Professor Sahdev has held a number of influential educational and editorial roles within radiology. She has contributed to specialist training programmes for radiologists across the UK and has served as Associate Editor of the British Journal of Radiology and Cancer Imaging. She also acts as a reviewer for a number of leading peer-reviewed radiology journals and has played an active role in developing educational resources used by clinicians and trainees.

Professor Sahdev has also supported specialist training in the International Ovarian Tumour Analysis (IOTA) methodology, helping radiologists, sonographers, and clinicians improve the assessment and characterisation of ovarian and adnexal masses. These educational, editorial, and research leadership roles reflect her ongoing commitment to advancing standards in diagnostic imaging and helping shape the future of the specialty.

As a Clinical Professor of Diagnostic Imaging, she regularly lectures at national and international conferences, specialist imaging courses, and educational meetings, sharing her expertise in gynaecological, pelvic, endocrine, and oncology imaging.

She serves as the gynaecological imaging module lead for the UK Radiology Integrated Training Initiative (R-ITI), one of the country’s leading radiology education programmes. Through this role and her wider educational activities, she contributes to the training and professional development of radiologists across the UK, helping to promote high standards in diagnostic imaging and patient care.
