Courtney Borg

HCPC Registered Women’s Health and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist
HCPC Registration Number: PH124354

Courtney Borg is an HCPC registered Women’s Health and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist with specialist experience in antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy, pelvic floor rehabilitation, pelvic pain, prolapse, bladder and bowel symptoms, and Pilates based rehabilitation.

At Gynaecology Clinic London, Courtney supports women at different stages of life, including during pregnancy, after childbirth, and later in life when pelvic floor, bladder, bowel, pain or core related symptoms may begin to affect confidence, comfort and day to day wellbeing.

Known for her empathetic and personalised approach, Courtney takes time to listen carefully to each patient’s concerns and understand how their symptoms are affecting their daily life. She works collaboratively with patients to create realistic treatment plans that fit around their lifestyle, confidence, time and access to exercise or rehabilitation facilities.

Her focus is on helping women understand their symptoms, rebuild strength and function, and feel more confident in their body. Many women seek her support for symptoms they may find difficult to talk about, including urinary leakage, pelvic pain, prolapse symptoms, postnatal recovery concerns, pain during sex, bowel symptoms, scar discomfort and difficulty returning to exercise.

Areas of Clinical Expertise

Courtney specialises in women’s health and pelvic health physiotherapy, with particular expertise in pelvic floor dysfunction, antenatal physiotherapy, postnatal recovery, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, vaginismus, bowel dysfunction, C section scar rehabilitation, perineal scar concerns, core rehabilitation and Pilates based recovery.

She supports patients with symptoms such as leaking urine, urinary urgency or frequency, vaginal heaviness or pressure, pelvic floor weakness, pelvic floor overactivity, constipation, leakage of wind or stool, pain during sex, pelvic pain and difficulty reconnecting with the deeper core muscles.

Courtney also supports women recovering after vaginal delivery or caesarean section. This may include postnatal checks, pelvic floor rehabilitation, abdominal recovery, C section scar advice, perineal scar support, and guidance around returning to daily activity, exercise and sex.

Her clinical approach combines careful assessment, education and practical rehabilitation. Rather than giving every patient the same programme, Courtney works with each person to understand their symptoms, goals, daily routine and what feels realistic for them.

Pregnancy, Postnatal Recovery and Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Courtney has a strong interest in supporting women during pregnancy and after childbirth. She recognises that pregnancy and the postnatal period can place significant pressure on the body, and that many women are not given enough support or education around symptoms, recovery and prevention.

During pregnancy, Courtney can support women with musculoskeletal symptoms such as pelvic girdle pain, lower back discomfort, postural changes, pelvic floor symptoms, urinary leakage or early signs of prolapse. Her work may include assessment, treatment, movement advice, strength guidance and education around protecting the pelvic floor during pregnancy.

After childbirth, Courtney helps women rebuild strength, confidence and comfort. Her postnatal work may include pelvic floor rehabilitation, deeper core rehabilitation, abdominal recovery, scar related concerns, return to movement, and support with pain or difficulty returning to sex.

For many women, the postnatal period can feel overwhelming. Courtney’s aim is to provide a calm and supportive environment where patients feel listened to, reassured and guided towards practical next steps in their recovery.

Pelvic Pain, Prolapse, Bladder and Bowel Symptoms

Courtney supports women with a wide range of pelvic floor related symptoms, including pelvic pain, prolapse symptoms, urinary incontinence, bladder urgency, bowel dysfunction and pain or difficulty returning to sex.

These symptoms can affect confidence, relationships, exercise, work and everyday life. They can also be difficult for patients to discuss, particularly when symptoms feel embarrassing, personal or unclear. Courtney’s role is to help patients understand what may be contributing to their symptoms and begin a practical rehabilitation plan.

She can support patients with possible prolapse symptoms, including heaviness, dragging, pressure or the feeling that something is different in the vaginal area. She also educates patients about factors that may contribute to pelvic floor or prolapse related symptoms, including pregnancy, childbirth, ageing and hypermobility.

Courtney’s patient centred approach is especially valuable for women who have been living with symptoms for some time, are unsure what is normal, or feel they have not had enough guidance about what can be done.

Pilates Based Rehabilitation and Return to Activity

Courtney is also a Pilates instructor and regularly uses Pilates based rehabilitation with her patients. This can be particularly helpful for women recovering after pregnancy, childbirth, pelvic floor symptoms, scar related concerns, core weakness or difficulty returning to exercise.

Pilates based rehabilitation can help patients rebuild strength, control, posture, breathing, movement confidence and deeper core connection. Courtney adapts this approach to each patient’s ability, symptoms and goals, so rehabilitation feels progressive, safe and achievable.

This can be useful for patients who want to return to exercise but are unsure what is safe, where to start, or how to avoid making symptoms worse. Courtney works with patients to build confidence gradually, whether their goal is returning to everyday activity, Pilates, gym training, running or other forms of exercise.

Her approach also supports women who are concerned about body confidence, abdominal recovery, scar tightness or how their body feels after pregnancy, birth or surgery. The focus is on helping patients feel stronger, more comfortable and more in control of their recovery.

Education, Training and Professional Background

Courtney graduated from the University of Malta in 2018 and began her physiotherapy career in Malta, where she worked for around three years in community physiotherapy and geriatric care.

After moving to the UK, she began working in the NHS and gained experience across critical care and medical physiotherapy before moving into women’s health. She later progressed into a Band 6 women’s health physiotherapy role at Whittington Hospital, where she worked for around two years and gained experience managing more complex women’s health cases.

Courtney has also worked in private practice within a physiotherapy, Pilates and wellness setting. This combination of NHS, private practice, women’s health and Pilates based rehabilitation experience allows her to support patients with both clinical knowledge and a practical understanding of how recovery fits into real life.

She has completed additional specialist training in pelvic health physiotherapy, including POGP training in managing complex female pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, and lower bowel dysfunction. She is APPI Matwork Pilates Certified, has completed APPI Ante/Post Natal Pilates training, and has also completed Reformer Pilates training, with certification in progress.
